How to strengthen nails
Soak nails daily in warm almond oil or olive oil for 5 to 7 minutes, preferably before bed time.
You can clean discolored nails by soaking them in a solution of lemon juice and warm water for 10 minutes. Then clean them with white vinegar.
Get rid of Cracked Nails
Apply glycerine at bedtime to heal cracks in nails. A generous application of glycerine, soothes the nails.
Soak your hands in warm water for 5 minutes. Make a paste of turmeric powder and sandalwood powder. Apply this paste thickly, like an ointment on the cuticles. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off.
To Harden Soft Nails
Sometimes soft nail crack easily. To harden them, soak them in olive oil for 20 minutes every alternate day.
To Whiten Nails
Dip a swab of cotton wool in hydrogen peroxide: clean the nails with this swab, rub under the nails to clean and whiten them.
After a bath, massage cuticles with warm olive oil or almond oil everyday. While massaging, push back the cuticles using your finger tips to do so.
Eat five to six raw almond everyday in the morning to get relief from splitting of nails.
Cure infected nails
Squeeze the gel of aloe-Vera and put it directly on the infected nail. Then cover the nail with a warm slightly damp cotton cloth.
Cure infected nail with lemon
Take a lemon and cut a small opening at the end on the lemon. Then push your infected finger inside the lemon. Keep for some time preferably till the lemon stops stinging. lemon juice is also used to remove the stains from the nails. And the good news is that it restores the natural pH.

Nail biting preventive
Make a aloe-Vera paste at home to get rid of nail biting habit. Take some fresh aloe Vera leaves. Squeeze out the gel. When you have collected enough gel then double boil it. When the gel turns to a thick consistency, place it in a neat and clean jar. Label the jar properly. Now whenever you have the urge of biting the nail just apply this little aloe-Vera juice on the nails. Slowly the bitter taste will discourage you from doing so.
It may be noted that the above remedy should not be tried by pregnant ladies and stop it if you get vomiting tendency.
Care of hangnails
The cold weather, hard rough works, frequent hand washing habits and nail biting habits gives way to hang nail.Hang nail is a fleshy part of the dry skin that have split from the edges of the finger nails. This often gets painful if not taken care of promptly. The first thing to be done is that cut the dry skin carefully with a scissor or clipper. Then apply some moisturizing cream. It should become a habit of applying cream every time you wash your hand so as to get rid of hangnails.
