Indigestion or stomach upset refers to a condition of impaired digestion.

It is a medical condition characterized by chronic or recurrent pain in the upper abdomen, upper abdominal fullness and feeling full earlier than expected when eating. Heart burn, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting are some of the other symptoms of indigestion.

Dyspepsia is a common problem, and is frequently due to gastritis. The other causes of indigestion may be over eating, eating wrong food combinations, eating spicy or uncooked food, eating too rapidly without chewing food properly, drinking alcohol, smoking, and insomnia. Regular constipation is usually the main cause of dyspepsia. Sometimes, strong emotions like jealousy, anger, fear and lack of exercise also lead to dyspepsia.

Home Remedies For Indigestion:

Indigestion Remedies with Grapes:
Soak 25gm of grapes and 25gm of fennel(saunf) in 250ml of water overnight. In the morning, sieve properly and mix 10 gm of sugar in the mixture. Drinking this mixture regularly helps to overcome the problem of indigestion.

Indigestion Cure with Lemon:
Lemon is very beneficial in dyspepsia. Cut a lemon in two halves. Take one half and warm it a little on gas. Add little black salt(kala namak) to it. Suck it slowly just before eating food.

Acid Indigestion Remedy with Mint, Lemon and Honey:
Mix one teaspoon of fresh juice of mint,
one teaspoon of lemon juice, and
one teaspoon of honey.
This is a very effective remedy for stomach upset and gastric problems.

Cure Stomach Ailments with Papaya:
Taking half to one kg fresh and ripe papaya in breakfast cures all stomach ailments.

Reduce Restlessness with Ginger and Lemon:
Take a 5mm ginger strand and sprinkle little lemon juice and salt. Eating it 10 minutes before food increase appetite and reduces restlessness caused by indigestion.

Improve Digestion with Carom seeds and Ginger powder:
Take 10gm of dry ginger powder(saunth)
5gm of black salt(kala namak)
5gm of small cardamom (illaichi)
10gm black pepper(kali mirch)
5gm of sugar
10gm of carom seeds(ajwain)
Mix all the above ingredients and grind them to powder and sieve it. Taking two to four grams of this powder after food twice daily improves digestion.
